Do you make your own broth?

I do and I use it all the time. It makes the perfect addition to rice, beans, noodles, dressing, soups, etc., and it is so easy to make…

Just save all of your bones from baked, fried, grilled or smoked chicken, turkey, beef, all end pieces and peels of garlic and onion, any leftover veggies, celery bottoms and leaves, etc., and put everything into a ziplock baggie in the freezer, until the bag gets full…

When you have a bag full of leftover goodies, put them into a crockpot (it can be simmered on the stove, or in the instant pot, but the crockpot is my favorite), cover the goodies with water, add a little salt, herbs of your choice (adding extra herbs is optional but I like to add a couple of bay leaves, and I also add leftover cooked veggies to the bag so they also have seasoning added already)and a couple tablespoons of raw apple cider vinegar. Turn your crockpot on the low setting until it goes off. Once it has simmered, let it cool completely, and then strain the broth removing all the bones and veggies…

I then ladle the broth up in ziplock freezer baggies with either 1 cup or 2 cups of broth in each baggie (mark the amount on the baggie if you like), and put them in the freezer. NOTE: you can also freeze some of the broth in ice cube trays until frozen and then bag up the broth cubes to add to sautéed dishes instead of water…

I find that I use broth in 1 or 2 cups measurements the most , so when they are frozen in those sizes there is no need for measuring once it has thawed! Meaning one less step in cooking!
