Herbal digestive tea blend from Mayim Farm Alabama
Ginger Peppermint Tea, loose leaf, hand packed in Opp, Alabama
Ginger Peppermint Tea, packed by hand at Mayim Farm in Opp, Alabama

Nobody thinks about digestion until it stops being quiet. This is a bitter and aromatic blend, the kind of cup that has been drunk after a heavy meal for about as long as people have been cooking heavy meals.

Six herbs, all of them old hands at this. Caffeine free.

If you bought this from us before, you knew it as Digest Tea. Same blend, same bag, new name. The name now says what is in it instead of what it is for.

What is in Ginger Peppermint Tea?

  • Ginger Root. The foundation of nearly every traditional after-dinner blend there is.
  • Peppermint Leaf. A traditional digestive herb, and the brightest thing in the cup.
  • Fennel Seed. One of the oldest carminative herbs in European and Ayurvedic tradition.
  • Dandelion Root. A classic bitter tonic, traditionally taken with or after food.
  • Licorice Root. Traditionally used to soothe, and it rounds the blend with natural sweetness.
  • Cumin Seed. Warming, and used after meals across a lot of different kitchens.

When do I drink Ginger Peppermint Tea?

Steep 1 tablespoon in 8 oz of hot water for 7 to 10 minutes. It is traditionally taken after a meal rather than before one, so give it 15 or 20 minutes and then brew a cup. It is caffeine free, which means an evening cup after supper will not keep you up.

What does Ginger Peppermint Tea taste like?

Bitter underneath and aromatic on top. The fennel and cumin carry a warm, seedy note, the peppermint lifts it, and the licorice gives it a sweet finish so the bitterness does not sit on your tongue afterward. If you have had a fennel seed at the door of an Indian restaurant, you already know the direction.

Licorice root can raise blood pressure and lower potassium when it is taken daily over a long stretch. If you are managing blood pressure, are pregnant, or take a diuretic or heart medication, talk to your provider first.
