Our Bronchial Support Tea is a mullein-based blend put together for people who want real herbal support for their lungs and airways. Not a marketing concept. A blend built around plants with long, documented histories of use for exactly this purpose.
Mullein is the foundation. It's been used for chest congestion, coughs, and airway irritation for over 2,000 years across Europe, Asia, and eventually the American South. We grow and wildcraft it right here in Alabama. From there we've added six supporting herbs, each one chosen because it does something specific.
What's in the Blend
- Mullein leaf — loosens and clears mucus from the lungs, soothes inflamed airways. The workhorse of any serious respiratory blend.
- Elecampane root — warming, expectorant, traditionally used for chronic respiratory conditions and deep-seated chest congestion.
- Lobelia — a bronchial relaxant. Helps open constricted airways and makes breathing easier during acute congestion. Used carefully and in small amounts.
- Thyme — antimicrobial and antispasmodic. Calms bronchial spasms and has documented activity against the bacteria commonly involved in respiratory infections.
- Licorice root — a natural demulcent that coats and soothes irritated tissue throughout the throat and bronchial tract.
- Peppermint — opens the airways, provides menthol cooling, and makes the blend easier to drink.
- Ginger — warming and anti-inflammatory, supports circulation and helps move stagnation.
How to Use It
Steep one teaspoon in just-boiled water for 10 minutes. Cover the cup while it steeps — that keeps the volatile oils in the cup rather than escaping into the air. Strain well. Drink 2–3 cups daily when your chest or breathing needs support, or one cup daily for general maintenance during cold and congestion season.
The steam matters too. Breathing it as the tea steeps is part of the therapy. Don't rush it.
When to Use It vs. When to Call a Doctor
This blend is good for everyday respiratory support — seasonal congestion, a cough that won't quit, lungs that feel heavy or irritated. We use it ourselves. But if something is going on for more than two or three weeks, you're running a significant fever, or your instincts are telling you something is wrong — go get checked. Traditional remedies and modern medicine aren't opposites. Know which situation you're in.
